Visiting Pitt as a prospective student during high school, I toured the Cathedral of Learning's Nationality Rooms and instantly fell in love. I knew that no other university campus offers such a unique display of intercultural appreciation. Not long after, as a proud Pitt student, I joined the Quo Vadis student tour guide society, and passed the written (500-plus questions!) and oral exams required to deliver tours of the Nationality Rooms myself. What a full-circle moment that rooted me not only in Pitt's legacy, but in those of all of the cultures that have crafted Pittsburgh's identity. My favorite room, as of the time of my graduation, is the Turkish Room (I'm enchanted by its vivid colors and geometric patterns), with the Austrian Room a close second (for obvious, aesthetic reasons). The only thing more sure than my love for this building? My belief that "Cathy" is a superior name to "the Cathedral of Learning."
