My dad, a proud Pitt staff retiree, started and ended his career in IT, on the seventh floor of the Cathedral of Learning (I believe he was hired in 1969). His name is Harry Novicki and he sadly and unexpectedly passed in 2017. I was lucky enough to have spent so much time on Pitt's campus as a child in the 1980s, specifically in and around the Cathedral of Learning, marveling at the amazing architecture. In an effort to impress his new wife and family back in the 90s, right before I started as a student in 1994, Dad arranged for a private tour of the Nationality Rooms. Not only did we see the Early American Room and the Syrian Room (normally closed to the public), we went alllll the way up past the Honors College floor to the highest room at the top of the building. We were all blown away at the view! This probably isn't a super exciting story compared to other stories you receive, but it's full of love for the University of Pittsburgh, it's close to my heart, and I hope someone reads and shares it.
